Chip Scan Terms of Service for Demonstration Tools and Products (“Demos”)

Chip Scan is a security oriented Company that works across a variety of technology domains. From time to time, we develop something we believe will have broad usefulness to the community. In the spirit of sharing, and in the hope that You will find something useful or interesting such that we might work together and establish a relationship, some ground rules are necessary. You or Your means the individual, company, or legal entity on behalf of which that is accessing or using the Demos, or the Website, as applicable. Through continued access and use of the Demos or the Website, You also agree and acknowledge the terms of this contract.

We know nobody likes to read a bunch of legal looking language, so therefore we will provide the following TL;DR version so you can be on your way quicker.

Don’t do this:

Expect a warranty and corresponding customer service
Break these rules and then try to squeeze money from us
Abuse the service using machine scrapers
Make money (without our permission) using resources of the Demos
Make or modify another website to take credit for the Demo capabilities
Using the Demos for any illegal purpose
Reverse engineer, alter, decompile, disassemble, hack and/or gain unauthorized access to the Demos
Violate anybody else’s legal rights by submitting content without permission
Steal our work/intellectual property
Use the site if you’re below the Internet age of consent.

Disclaimer of Liability

Chip Scan is making the Demos available to You “AS IS” for testing and evaluation use only, with no representations or warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Chip Scan disclaims all warranties whatsoever, express, implied, written, oral or statutory, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and noninfringement. Chip Scan’s Demos do not come with technical support, but feel free to ask us any questions You may ask and we may answer any questions at our convenience. Chip Scan will not be liable, under breach of contract or any other theory of liability, for any damages whatsoever arising from Your use of the Demos or any results produced, including without limitation direct, special, incidental, punitive, consequential, or other damages, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Limitation of Liability and Indemnification

In the event that You violate our Terms of Service, You are responsible for indemnifying the company for any losses or damages the company incurs as a result. Regardless, under no circumstances would Company be held liable for monetary damages in excess of what You paid. (To be clear, the Demos are FREE).

Access Rules

We expect Your use of the tools will be as a human being using a conventional web browser, and without automation techniques of any kind. We expect Your use of the results will be for informational purposes only and not intended to be accepted without examination by a human being. By submitting documents or other inputs to the Demos, You are not relinquishing any of Your ownership or rights to the content. You do agree that we take possession of submitted documents or other inputs for the time we need to automatically process the content and produce a report for You. If the results are discussed or included in any public facing document, please give us credit by referencing this site. Also, don’t manipulate or create a third party web site that works as a middleman to our Demos. Although information submitted to the Demos will be deleted, we do not recommend submitting any information that may result in harm or liability such as breaches of confidentiality, intellectual property or other information not meant to be exposed publicly. Company reserves the right to ban users and IP addresses or take down Demos at our discretion.

Data Retention

We have a separate detailed privacy policy that we hope will answer any questions about Your privacy and rights, what information we gather, how we use it, and what we keep and why. We are a security oriented company and we take Your privacy seriously.

Limits of the Free Application

The Demos will have certain limitations on document size, and limitations on computational speed since it is free and has a cost to us. If You are interested in a Commercial version of the Demos without these limitations, please contact us at info@chipscan.us.

Intellectual Property

The use of our Website and Demos does not constitute a license to intellectual property of the Company. No rights are granted to reverse engineer, disassemble, hack or otherwise expose the inner workings.

Age Limits

Our Demos do not address anyone under the age of 13. If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, We take steps to remove that information from Our servers. If We need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing Your information and Your country requires consent from a parent, We may require Your parent's consent before We collect and use that information.

Changes to this Terms of Service

We may update Our Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Terms of Service on this page.
